World Holy Name Week

“In many parts of the world this time period includes the appearance day of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakura, the disappearance day of Srila Namacarya Haridas Thakura and of course Srila Prabhupada’s arrival in Boston.  Although the period is around 10 days the idea is that temples, communities and  devotees, no matter who we are or where we are, endeavor to chant more and more during this time – all over the world.”

Look out for us on the streets of Brighton (& Hastings) this week as we go out on ‘Harinam Sankirtan’ (congregational street chanting).

Please join us if you can – updates via text (if we have your number) – call Dharani via ‘contact us’ page – via our facebook page – or via twitter (see side bar on website)

Radhastami

20120923-081623.jpg

Today is beautiful Radhastami, the appearance of Srimati Radharani, the eternal consort of Sri Krishna.

Srimati Radharani is the Supreme Goddess. She is almost always seen with Lord Krishna. It is described that She is the Chief Associate and devotee of Lord Krishna, and topmost of all Goddesses. Her name means that She is the most excellent worshiper of Lord Krishna. However, She is also an expansion of the Lord’s energy. Since She is also an extension of Krishna, She is the feminine aspect of God. Thus, in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, God is both male and female. They are One, but Krishna expands into two, Himself and Radharani, for the sake of divine loving pastimes
