This Friday we will read and discuss from the Bhagavad Gita - As it is, about the '3 Gunas - modes of material nature'.
sattvam rajas tama iti
gunāh prakrti-sambhavāh
nibadhnanti mahā-bāho
dehe dehinam avyayam
Material nature consists of three modes – goodness, passion and ignorance. When the eternal living entity comes in contact with nature, O mighty-armed Arjuna, he becomes conditioned by these modes.
(BG 14.5)
Reading from Srila Prabhupada's translation of the ancient wisdom text Bhagavad Gita, we will have an interative discussion on this important subject. "The living entity, because he is transcendental, has nothing to do with this material nature. Still, because he has become conditioned by the material world, he is acting under the spell of the three modes of material nature. Because living entities have different kinds of bodies, in terms of the different aspects of nature, they are induced to act according to that nature. This is the cause of the varieties of happiness and distress." (BG 14.5 Purport)
As usual we will also have Kirtan (chanting with musical instruments) -the most effective method of self-realisation for this age- and finish with a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast.
We look forward to seeing you there!
