Friday 25th October - The glories of the Month of 'Kartik' - with HG Kundalata mataji & HG Trilokanath prabhu.

This week we will be hearing from local and senior devotees, Her Grace Kundalata mataji and His Grace Trilokanath prabhu on the importance and glories of this special month, the Holy month of Kartik.

"Asvini, Varuni, Kirttika. Kirttika is the name of the third daughter of Daksa. It was a custom in Vraja-mandal (Vrndavan -birth place of Sri Krishna) to name one's daughter after one of the daughters of Daksa Prajapati. So Radharani's (Krishna's eternal consort's) mother's name was Kirttika, and Radharani is called Karttiki, in the sense that She is born from Kirttika. So regarding the holy month of Karttika, Sanatana Goswami has given the clue: masanam margasirso 'ham:, Krsna says, "Of all months, the month Marga-sirsa (November-December) represents Me." Karttika precedes Marga-sirsa or Agrahayan. So Karttika month therefore has some reason to be conceived of as representing Radharani. As Krsna represents Marga-sirsa, it can follow that the Goddess representing the preceding month, Karttika, represents Radharani." (Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj)

They will also include the reading from the works of their Spiritual Master, B.R. Sridhar Dev Goswami maharaj in honour the anniversary of his appearance (birth) day; a great vaisnava Acharya and initimate, godbrother of Srila Prabhupada.

Throughout this month we will sing Damodarastakam together and offer a candle lamp to Lord Damodara (Krishna), and as usual we will have Kirtan (chanting with musical instruments) -the most effective method of self-realisation for this age- and finish with a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast.

We look forward to seeing you there!
