The Bhagavad-Gita is an ancient sacred text and considered a summary of all Vedic philosophical teachings.
The Gita was spoken by Lord Krishna Himself to His best friend Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, 5,000 years ago. The Bhagavad-Gita, literally means "The Lord’s Song" and is understood as a conversation between Krishna and Arjuna but meant for the whole world’s benefit.
On the anniversary day (or close to), devotees gather to recite all 700 verses together remembering this sacred conversation between the Lord and His dear devotee.
We are holding our Gita Jayanti this Friday 2nd December setting up at 19.30 and starting promptly at 19.45. Together we will read the english translation only (for the sake of time) on this joyous occasion and it usually takes around 2 hours with a good pace and no distractions. Please note - we won't have time for our usual full prasadam (blessed food) feast, but we will have snacks.
If you have a Bhagavada Gita please bring it along to read with us.
See you then - Srimad Bhagavad Gita ki jaya! Srila Prabhupada ki jaya!
