Friday 6th December - 'Arcā-vigraha - the Deity form of The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna'

This Friday is the 55th anniversary of the installation of 'Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara', the beloved Radha Krishna deities that Srila Prabhupada installed in the first Radha Krishna Temple in the UK. We will be celebrating this important occasion, discussing it's relevance to the UK Hare Krishna movement and the theology and practice of Bhakti Yoga.

"Installed by Srila Prabhupada in 1969, They are ISKCON's first full-size Radha-Krishna deities. When asked who were his favourite deities, Srila Prabhupada replied, on more than one occasion, that Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara were the most beautiful."

'The transcendental form of the Lord installed in a temple is not different from the Lord personally. Such a form of the Lord is called arca-vigraha, or arca incarnation, and is expanded by the Lord by His internal potency just to facilitate the devotional service of His innumerable devotees who are in the material world. The material senses cannot perceive the spiritual nature of the Lord, and therefore the Lord accepts the arca-vigraha, which is apparently made of material elements like earth, wood and stone but actually there is no material contamination.' (SB 1.11.24 - Purport)

Please join us to celebrate this momentous occasion and as usual we will have Kirtan (chanting with musical instruments) -the most effective method of self-realisation for this age- and finish with a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast.

We look forward to seeing you there!
