In 1965, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, known to his followers as Srila Prabhupada, brought Krsna consciousness (Bhakti Yoga) to America. On the day he landed in Boston, on his way to New York City, he penned these words in his diary: “My dear Lord Krsna, I am sure that when this transcendental message penetrates [the hearts of the westerners], they will certainly feel gladdened and thus become liberated from all unhappy conditions of life.”
He was sixty-nine years old, alone and with few resources, but the wealth of spiritual knowledge and devotion he possessed was an unwavering source of strength and inspiration.
Thursday October 5th marks the anniversary of his arrival and this Friday 6th we will celebrate this occasion together at our 'Hare Krishna Fridays' weekly program. We will read from His Divine Grace's biography - 'Śrīla Prabhupāda-līlāmrta' about his journey and what happened when he first arrived. We will also sing a bhajan (devotional song) version of Srila Prabhupada's famous poem: 'Mārkine Bhāgavata-dharma' click HERE for the link.
As usual we will a be having our usual Kirtans (chanting with musical instruments) and a Veggie/Vegan Spiritual Feast.
We look forward to seeing you there!
