Sacred Food Distribution
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna makes this wonderful statement:
patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah
If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit a water, I will accept it.
Bhagavad Gita 9:26
When food stuffs are cooked and offered to Krishna with devotion it becomes spiritualised. The food is known as ‘Prasadam’ (‘Mercy’)
A team headed up by a local devotees - Her Grace, Yashvini Saci devi dasi and Bhakta Jayanti prabhu, go out weekly distributing prasadam to those in need on the streets of Brighton. Hundreds have been given a hot veggie meal with a nutritional and spiritual fortification.
This is a wonderful and much needed service to the community.
